To The Stars

Someone told me you'll never be alone
But at times I can't see how that is true
You see I'm thousands of miles away
Tell me how can I be holding you

I guess I have been looking at this wrong
I never needed you by my side from the start
All I had to know is just what I felt
Having you here as a friend, secure in my heart

My mom told me once to look to the stars
I never really understood why
But now I know wherever you are
That star is in your sky

So every now and then I'll look up to stars
And I pray that you'll be doing the same
If you listen then to the wind
Hopefully you'll hear me calling your name

The wind I hope will carry it
To wherever you might be
And at that single moment in time
In my heart you'll be with me

So let us live this day to day
As we look up to the sky for stars to see
And if we are meant to be together
Again you'll be with me
